About the event
From 7pm to 8pm we'll run a lesson upstairs in private, and then plan to move down to the bar to carry on social dancing (and probably learning fun stuff) once the band starts at 8pm.This a completely beginner-friendly dance lesson. No partner needed.
The full sales pitch: Do you sometimes want to dance, but you don't know how? Maybe your partner wants you to dance with them, but you're not even sure what it means to "lead" or "follow" a dance? Perhaps you've tried a couple dance lessons but they just made you feel clumsy and confused? Well, have no fear! Will and Katy are here!
Our lessons focus on how to lead and how to follow, with emphasis on how to actually move your body and communicate through contact. We don't teach a bunch of fancy moves that you'll forget before you get back to your car. We'd rather you learn one "move" and be able to do slow, fast, forward, backward, and a few spicy embellishments, so you can dance however you want, to whatever music is playing.
If you can walk, you can do blues dancing. If you can walk to the tempo of the music then this will be a piece of cake.
What if you're already a great dancer? Then come learn a new style! We guarantee to provide at least one gem of knowledge, or your money back, ha ha!
To learn more about what blues dancing is, check out the "About" section of our group page. In a nutshell, it's a descendant of swing dancing that focuses on partner connection and musicality, especially useful to medium and slow tempos in a wide range of musical genres.
Lesson price is $10.
